LIVE REOPENING with The JoGo Project! This D.C.-based group created by saxophonist Elijah Balbed brings its mix of jazz, rock, hip-hop, and, of course, go-go for a lively performance LIVE & ONLINE at Keystone Korner Baltimore this Thursday, April 8th, 2021
Elijah Jamal Balbed is a composer, educator, award-winning Saxophonist, and Washington, DC native known for his involv ent with Jazz music as well as DC’s indigenous genre – Go-Go. Elijah’s love for Go-Go came from performing with the late, great Godfather of Go-Go Chuck Brown (2011-2012). Since Mr. Brown’s passing, Elijah has been dedicated to preserving and promoting Go-Go music. In 2014, The JoGo Project was formed and over the last 4 years the band has taken their Jazz/Go-Go fusion sound all over the DMV area, to New York, North Carolina, and most recently on a cultural diplomacy tour to Russia on behalf of the U.S. State Department
