The lively Klezmer music of Eastern Europe is so much fun that it has become a popular genre far outside of the Jewish community in which it arose. Songs selected for this program are from Klezmer and Yiddish theater/folk song repertoire, and the band will make them swing. Listeners will enjoy loads of melody carried by a host of instruments. Just watching the musicians play will be almost as entertaining as hearing their music. Led by Baltimore guitarist Kristoffer Belgica, the band features some of the region’s top players. Although they are known to perform in a variety of genres from classical to jazz, this traditional music holds a special place in their hearts. The 27th Street Klezmer Band also features:
Halley Shoenberg (clarinet)
Max Jacobs (violin)
Connor Todd (trumpet)
Jason Torres (tuba)
Ethan Hasiuk (drums)
