Kahil ElZabar, drums, voice, kalimba
Corey Wilkes, trumpet
Alex Harding baritone

Kahil El’Zabar has been leading his Ethnic Heritage Ensemble in various configurations for over 40 years and they are still in forward motion! This year, his “EHE, Let It Be Free” 2017 tour includes longtime member Corey Wilkes on trumpet, and Alex Harding on baritone sax. These players are much more than accomplished jazz musicians. They are spiritually endowed, next level Sound Scientists, who have mastered rituals in music like no one else — that raise consciousness while healing the mind, body and spirit. They are master healers through music, opening one’s pineal gland (third eye), and awakening infinite possibilities of wellness and wholeness! When one experiences the EHE, you are set free to be all you can be!

Tickets: $22 in advance/$25 at door/$10 full-time students with ID

Kahil ElZabar has worked with musical giants such as Nina Simone, Dizzy Gillespie, Pharoah Sanders, Archie Shepp, Stevie Wonder, Donnie Hathaway, Eddie Harris, as well as founded the Ritual Trio and the Ethnic Heritage Ensemble. There is so much history in music that lies between these pivotal players, who between the three, is a discography of more than 200 acclaimed recordings. The new EHE is music endowed with an authentic pedigree that urges to push the boundaries of creative music into the soulful heart of fresh expression! After 43 plus years of eventful music making, the Ethnic Heritage Ensemble is still reinventing itself while forging innovative pathways upon the African American musical pantheon. The coming together of these three historical and impactful figures at this particular juncture in history, will take us beyond the current trends of predictable mediocrity. Hamiet Bluiet, Craig Harris and Kahil ElZabar are the real deal and are always ready to make real music!
