Trumpeter Charmaine Michelle recently joined the board of the BJA. Raised in Vienna Virginia, her music career began early, as with so many Black musicians, in the church, where at age four, she was singing with the choir. BJA’s “Jazz for Kids” – Bringing Jazz to the Next Generation

Members of “Jazz for Kids,” a program of the Baltimore Jazz Alliance, appeared at Bay-Brook Elementary/Middle School in South Baltimore (Brooklyn) on February 28th. Rhonda Robinson (vocals, flute), Bob Jacobson (sax), Phil Ravita (bass), Greg Small (piano), and Russell Haward (drums) gave two separate short performances, each time for a group of second and third graders. | Read more>> Read More

The BJA Partners with the BSO for their “Jazzing the Orchestra” series

The Baltimore Jazz Alliance (BJA) ended the first of collaborations with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) after the Sunday Matinee performance of ‘Lush Life: Ellington and Strayhorn” on November 24th.
